SeedGen and SeeGen AI sound like they could be the same product. They are not.

Both platforms give users access to Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.5. Both can turn text or images into video. Once you start using them, though, the differences become clear.

I tested their free credits, pricing, reference options, and generation controls. I also checked which platform makes more sense for developers.

What are SeedGen and SeeGen AI?

SeedGen

SeedGen is a browser based AI video generator built around the Seedance models. Its current model list includes Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.0 Fast, Seedance 2.0 Mini, and Seedance 2.5.

Users can enter a prompt or upload images, audio, and video. They can then choose the video length, aspect ratio, and output quality. SeedGen sells one-time credit packs, although its pricing page also mentions subscription options for users with higher usage.

The product is mainly aimed at creators who want to generate videos through a web interface.

SeeGen AI

SeeGen AI is also a browser based video generator, but it has more tools for developers and production workflows.

It supports Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.5, image generation models, API access, and an API Playground. Its Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.5 API includes text-to-video, image-to-video, first-and-last-frame generation, multi-reference input, native audio, and several output resolution options.

SeedGen currently advertises 480p, 720p, and 1080p generation. It does not say whether its 1080p output is native Seedance 2.0 output or an upscale. SeeGen AI states that Seedance 2.0 Pro supports native 1080p and native 4K. SeedGen

The free accounts also feel quite different. My new SeedGen account received 20 credits, which covered a four-second Seedance 2.0 video at 480p. It was not enough for a Seedance 2.5 test.

SeeGen AI gives users 200 credits after signup and joining its Discord server. That is enough for a short Seedance 2.0 or Seedance 2.5 test. Its public pricing page confirms the 200-credit offer.

Credit numbers alone do not tell you much. SeedGen uses fewer credits per task, but each credit costs more. SeeGen AI uses more credits per task, but its packs include far more credits.

For this comparison, I used Seedance 2.0 Pro at 720p with no reference video.

On SeedGen, a four-second video used 40 credits: 40 credits ÷ 4 seconds = 10 credits per second

On SeeGen AI, a five-second video uses 200 credits: 200 credits ÷ 5 seconds = 40 credits per second

SeedGen's three public one-time packs cost $10, $30, and $99.90. The larger packs reduce the price from about 33 cents to 28.5 cents per second in this test.

SeeGen AI works out to about 18.2 to 26.6 cents per second across the three packs above. At the $99 level, a five-second video costs about $0.91 on SeeGen AI and $1.43 on SeedGen.

That makes SeeGen AI about 36% cheaper in this specific test.

These numbers only cover Seedance 2.0 Pro at 720p without a reference video. Seedance 2.5, video references, and higher resolutions use different rules.

Human references and API access

The choice is simple if your project needs real people.

SeedGen did not accept private real-person references in the workflow I tested. SeeGen AI lets users upload authorized images or videos for review. Once approved, the asset can be passed into a Seedance request with an asset:// reference.

This matters for UGC ads, digital twins, personal avatars, and virtual presenters.

The API difference is just as clear. SeedGen does not list a public API on its product or pricing pages. SeeGen AI provides API keys, documentation, an API Playground, and asset review endpoints. Its API packs list 480+ concurrency.

Workflow and controls

SeedGen has the simpler interface. That may be enough when you want to enter a prompt, upload an image, and generate a short video.

SeeGen AI gives you more control before the task starts. In my test, I could upload a reference video longer than the model limit and trim the part I wanted inside the browser. This is useful when the source file is 20 or 30 seconds long but only one short action matters.

It also exposes settings for bitrate, generated audio, output resolution, and seed. A fixed seed can help when you want similar results from the same inputs. These parameters are also available through its API.

Which one should you use?

SeedGen makes sense when you want a basic web generator and do not need real-person references or an API. Its interface is easy to understand, and all three credit packs are one-time purchases.

SeeGen AI fits a wider range of projects. It is the stronger option when you need real-person references, lower effective Seedance 2.0 pricing, API access, batch generation, or more control over reference files.

SeedGen is the simpler choice for manual creation in a browser. SeeGen AI costs less in this 720p test and adds real-person assets, an API, higher published concurrency, video trimming, and advanced controls.

For occasional prompt-to-video use, either platform may work. For a product, automated workflow, or human-reference project, SeeGen AI has the more complete toolset.
